Running Docker

To start the docker daemon run:

sudo systemctl start docker

To check everything is working, run the docker info:

user@imx8mpnavq:~$ sudo docker info
Client:
 Context:    default
 Debug Mode: false

Server:
 Containers: 3
  Running: 0
  Paused: 0
  Stopped: 3
 Images: 1
 Server Version: 20.10.21
 ...
 Insecure Registries:
  127.0.0.0/8
 Live Restore Enabled: false

Running “Hello, world!”

Pull and run the first container, hello-world:

sudo docker run hello-world

Post-install Configuration

If you want to run docker without root privileges, add user to the docker group:

sudo usermod -aG docker $USER

After you log out and log back, you can run docker commands without sudo:

user@imx8mpnavq:~$ docker ps
CONTAINER ID   IMAGE     COMMAND   CREATED   STATUS    PORTS     NAMES
